Role Overview
One of our team members is going on maternity leave, and we’re seeking an Account Director to join our team while they’re away. The Account Director is a strategic thinker who oversees one larger or several smaller accounts at any given time and demonstrates a business development mindset. The ideal candidate is an exceptional client manager, team leader, strategic thinker and flexible problem solver. Multitasking and the ability to skillfully handle the unexpected are essential qualities to bring to the position.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manage clients, complex projects and cross-functional agency relationships
- Develop the strategic direction of communications programs for clients, including leading the process and writing the plan that provides a broad spectrum of communications services
- Ensure that complete client satisfaction is maintained at the highest level
- Anticipate issues, challenges, and opportunities to develop targeted and effective strategies
- Demonstrate leadership in using and advising on the integration of multiple service offerings to address client challenges
- Lever existing relationships with media, influencers, and other stakeholders to help clients achieve their objectives
- Write strategic communications tailored to various target audiences
- Take part in business development activities
- Manage budgets, billable expenses, and other administrative requirements
- Play a critical role in supporting the leadership team and coaching juniors
Required Experience, Skills and Abilities
- Minimum of 10 years working in the communications/public relations industry; agency is mandatory
- A degree or certification in Public Relations or Communications is preferred
- Prior agency or consulting experience is a considerable asset
- Strong experience managing a team from the financial, client delivery, and staffing perspectives
- Proven ability to turn ideas into thought-out strategic plans
- Capacity to convey ownership of assigned projects to junior team members
- Excellent oral and written business communication skills
- Aptitude for financial management – managing budgets and forecasts
- Exceptional judgment when working with team members, client contacts and vendors
- Attention to detail and quality
- Instills confidence with clients and colleagues
- A successful track record of maintaining strong and trusted client relationships
- Excellent presentation skills including the ability to communicate and sell ideas to prospects and clients
- Highly motivated and can grow existing and new business opportunities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Teams
