Public Relations Intern

Length of placement: TBC based on program requirements

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor and track media and influencer coverage in real-time
  • Develop and update meeting agendas and status reports
  • Manage research, reporting and measurement for clients, under supervision
  • Research and ordering materials for client programs, as required
  • Prepare briefing notes for clients, as directed
  • Develop and maintain work back schedules / critical paths
  • Create and update media and influencer lists, under supervision
  • Develop and maintain editorial calendars as required based on project needs
  • Develop media materials first drafts (e.g. social media copy, news releases, media pitches, etc.) and conduct media/influencer outreach and follow-up
  • Coordinate media materials distribution
  • Proofreading of communications materials
  • Participating in creative brainstorm sessions for existing clients, new business prospects and internal purposes
  • Assistance with special events and event planning
  • Administrative and other related duties as required and assigned
  • Note: Computer proficiency in a variety of programs is required, notably Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams)

DETAILS:

  • Timing: targeting November 2, 2020 as the start date
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (or per your program requirements)
  • Location: Toronto – currently position will be remote

Content Specialist

We’re growing and want to add a Content Specialist to our team. In this role you will work on a combination of digital, corporate, consumer and health clients. And, as a member of GCI’s creative team, you’ll work across the agency to strategize and script creative products of all kinds—from new campaign ideas to advertorials and videos, and more.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and develop digital marketing programs, including digital content creation and strategic use of paid amplification tools like Facebook and LinkedIn advertising, Outbrain, and other platforms
  • Write and edit in different styles for different mediums, and for multiple clients, with the know-how to get the right inputs at every stage of the process—from brief to client feedback to final product
  • Serve as a key creative thinker within the agency, contributing to strategy development, brainstorms, idea generation, and other creative needs
  • Provide exceptional client service and project management oversight
  • Ensure flawless execution on client programs
  • Support senior team members and coach junior team members
  • Proactively identify incremental and new business opportunities
  • Proactively build a Rolodex of creative and digital freelancers and other external vendors, to deliver on client needs

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 6+ years as a content creator in a strategic communications context—agency experience preferred
  • A degree or certification in digital marketing, content marketing or similar field is preferred, though not required
  • Passion for storytelling through the written word
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, with clients, and with suppliers and vendors
  • Strong project management skills and ability to multitask, work independently, manage time and prioritize and meet competing deadlines
  • Flexible with the ability to manage spontaneous, last-minute tasks and assignments
  • Excellent attention/commitment to accuracy, detail and quality
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience with social media, digital strategies and tools
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Applies creative thinking and problem-solving to client challenges
  • Superior experience with Microsoft Office (including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and TEAMS)
