We’re growing, and we want to add a Consultant to our team. The candidate will have strong organization skills and stellar attention to detail including the ability to prioritize and multitask. The ability to work independently, proactively and manage multiple deadlines concurrently are essential. And, of course, as a budding Idea Architect, you’ll be expected to share ideas openly and confidently in meetings and brainstorms.

A day in the life of a Consultant 

No two days are the same, but your key responsibilities include:

  • Prepares agendas, activity reports, critical paths and contact reports
  • Uses critical paths/workback plans and client planning documents to identify and begin work product to meet deadlines
  • Flags potential challenges and opportunities with senior team members and proposes solutions
  • Serves as liaison between GCI Canada and suppliers, media and influencers through email correspondence, telephone conversations and virtual and in-person meetings, with guidance from senior team members
  • Carries out media relations activities such as: writing first drafts of media materials such as pitches, advisories, news releases, matte stories, invitations; coordinating distribution of media materials; conducting media relations to secure interviews, news coverage and attendance at events
  • Works with the team to execute influencer programs, including identification, relationship building and measurement
  • Researches venues, suppliers and coordinates logistical arrangements for special events
  • Helps with digital community management, including developing editorial calendars, posting content, and flagging comments for response
  • Uses web and social media analytics platforms to measure campaign success and provide data-backed recommendations for optimization
  • Contributes ideas to program development
  • Helps incorporate objectives, strategies, timetables and budgets into client plans

What you’ll bring 

  • Minimum two years working in communications/public relations (agency experience is preferred)
  • A degree or certification in Public Relations or Communications is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, with media and influencers, and with suppliers and vendors
  • Strong ability to multitask, work independently, manage time, prioritize and meet competing deadlines
  • Excellent attention/commitment to accuracy, detail and quality
  • Flexible with the ability to manage spontaneous, last-minute tasks and assignments
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience with media monitoring tools, social media, and influencers tools
  • Strong research, writing, and interpersonal skills
  • Desire to meet and exceed expectations, and to deliver outstanding service
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Teams

A day in the life of a Senior Consultant

  • Support senior team members with project oversight and program planning
  • Develop and manage detailed workback schedules and ensure deadlines are met
  • Execute projects and provide thoughtful project support and tactical oversight
  • Draft content such as media materials, media and influencer briefs, radio scripts, thoughtful client updates and recommendations, and more
  • Guide junior team members in understanding media monitoring and media monitoring tools, media relations strategy and best practices in development of materials and client communications
  • Produce thoughtful, well-proofed and formatted written products and content that align with client goals and objectives, ideally requiring minimal revisions
  • Support ongoing media and influencer relations
  • Support budget management and help ensure programs are delivered on time and within budget
  • Oversee and support results measurement and reporting

What you’ll bring:

  • Four to six years working in communications / public relations (agency experience is preferred)
  • A degree or certification in Public Relations or Communications is preferred
  • Good project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and the desire to drive projects forward and meet deadlines
  • Passion for communications
  • A client service and team player mindset
  • Strong writing skills that demonstrate adaptability, clarity of thought, and a love of language
  • Solid presentation and interpersonal skills

  • A deep knowledge of the Canadian media with a pulse on the latest trends in the marketplace
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience with social media, digital strategies and tools
  • Ability to apply creative thinking and problem-solving to client challenges
  • Superior experience with Microsoft Office (including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Teams)

Intermediate Graphic Designer – Freelance

We are looking to expand our roster of freelance graphic designers to support our team on variety of clients in the health and wellness, consumer and digital space. We are looking for passionate and talented creatives who are ready to tackle a wide range of challenges. On any given day, that could mean brand design, content marketing, advertising, social media content, video concepts, information design, presentations, web design, and everything in between. It goes without saying that meaty design chops are a must, along with a versatile skill set and an eagerness to work in a wide range of spaces and verticals.

Responsibilities

  • Work with our in-house Senior Art Director, account leads, and the broader GCI team to ideate and design content for a wide range of clients in a wide range of spaces and verticals
  • Interpret creative briefs and collaborate with account teams to develop visually compelling content on brief and on time, from concept to completion
  • Establish conceptual and stylistic direction while following brand guidelines
  • Ensure flawless execution and high attention to detail of all deliverables

Requirements

  • Postsecondary education in design or art direction
  • 3-5 years of design experience
  • Strong design portfolio demonstrating versatility and a great eye for detail
  • Solid understanding of typography and design principles such as balance, hierarchy, alignment, colour and space
  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop & InDesign) and Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • A constant curiosity and passion for design; keeping a finger on the pulse of the industry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to justify concepts to team members
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and demonstrate a high sense of urgency to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced corporate setting

  • Experience with WordPress a plus
