TORONTO, Ontario – GCI Canada is proud to announce the appointment of Kristy Derkson as General Manager of GCI Canada, working out of the agency’s Toronto office.
“GCI is entering an exciting new chapter,” said Derkson. “I couldn’t be more excited to be joining our new President, Joe Peters, and the rest of the GCI Canada team in writing that chapter.”
Kristy brings more than 20 years of leadership in public relations to the role, from a wide breadth of client work in healthcare communications, marketing communications, and corporate communications. Kristy has been part of the H+K family of companies for 12 years, where she has seen and done it all—from launching innovative products and programs, to leading integrated campaigns, to lending her expertise as organizations build their brands and reputations. This includes a central role in creating and driving Canada 2067, a national initiative to shape science learning for Canada’s five million youth. Under Kristy’s innovative leadership, Canada 2067 sparked more than 180,000 conversations about the future of science learning in Canada, generated almost 100 million earned media impressions and reached nearly 120 million people.
“I’m so excited to work with Kristy as we build the future of GCI Canada,” said Peters. “Clients lean on us because we bring together talented people for every purpose, and there are few as talented as Kristy. She’s a leader and an extraordinary public relations professional.”
“GCI offers the smartest strategy and execution excellence,” adds Derkson. “We are going to grow those core strengths while delivering a first-choice agency for communications, marketing, research, and engagement.”
